How A Digital X-ray Works

Digital X-rays are a type of radiation that can pass through the body in order to create an accurate internal image of someone. The rays that are passed through the body do so at different rates which and are picked up by a detector on the other side of the body which is how the image is formed. The denser the body part the more difficult it is for the ray to pass through. The image that is formed after the x-ray is almost in two tone – black and white. The darker black areas are where the rays have been easily able to pass through the body such as the lungs or the heart. The thicker, more dense areas that the rays struggle to pass through, such as bone, show up as clear white.
